Creating A Candy Inspired Wedding Theme

by Kenny, in: Candy Articles

With the emergence of the candy bar and cupcakes as modern wedding trends, the only logical next step are entire candy themed weddings. A candy inspired wedding can work for any season, and will appeal to the sweet tooth in all of us. Since candy comes in many shapes, colors, flavors and sizes, you may want to stick to a theme such as peppermint for winter weddings or bright colors for summer events. Another plus is that candy is relatively cheap to decorate with and won’t break your budget. Here are some ideas for creating a retro-sweet shop wedding theme.

The Candy Bar – of course no candy inspired wedding could be without a sweet bar. Fill large glass containers of varying shapes and sizes with a selection of sweets in complimentary colors to create an eye-catching display. Provide paper bags imprinted with your names for guests to fill.

Centerpieces – fill a larger vase with inexpensive candy such as conversation hearts or colored marshmallows and inset a smaller vase inside with candy colored flowers. Alternatively, you could purchase mini topiaries and wrap the stems in white satin (to look like a lollipop stick) and attach candy to the branches and cover the soil with candy stones (designed to look like real stones) jelly beans, or other candy. For a DIY idea, Styrofoam balls, silk flowers, candy, wooden craft dowels, ribbon and terra cotta pots can be made into handmade centerpieces.

Table numbers – create table numbers from 5″ x 7″ cardstock printed off your printer or purchase pre-printed numbers. You can then stamp candy inspired designs onto the stock. Attach to dowels, and insert into a tall glass filled with candy.

Table decorations – use candy bracelets or necklaces to wrap around linens for napkin rings. Or select mini candy or cupcake place card holders for a sweet touch.

Cake – A cupcake tower or your wedding cake designed like your favorite candy, or accented with candy. Imagine a white cake dusted with coconut as snow and topped with peppermint for a winter touch. Cupcakes and petite fours are also a great touch to your candy theme.

Drinks – create a signature candy inspired drink such as cotton candy martini’s.

Music - play songs such as “I Want Candy”, “Lolipop” or “Candy Man” to create a candy driven dance floor.

Wedding Favors – candy, candy and more candy! Whether you select something modern such as personalized mint tins, something personalized such as chocolate bars, or something traditional such as Jordan almonds, finish off your day with a sweet edible favor.

Easter Candy Crafts – Candy Sundae

by Kenny, in: Candy Articles

To make this Easter candy craft project you will need: a Sundae glass, Easter candy (Hershey’s chocolate kisses, chocolate eggs, or jelly beans in Easter colors), a stick candy, curling ribbons, pipe cleaners or thin stem wire, scissors and wire cutters.

It usually takes only 15 minutes to make this tasty desert for Easter. Your kids will be happy to help you with it. Spend time together as a family and have fun!

Step 1. Find a Sundae glass you would like to use in your craft project.

Step 2. Fill the Sundae glass with the Easter candy of your choice. I used milk chocolate eggs for my Candy Sundae.

Step 3. Put the stick candy of the corresponding color into the glass.

Step 4.

a) Prepare curling ribbons in Easter colors (pastel red, pastel yellow, pastel green, etc.). You can also use ready-made curl swirls.

b) Take a piece of pipe cleaner (chenille wire) or thin stem wire, bend it over the middle of the curling ribbons, twisting the two legs tightly near the ribbon. Curl the ribbons by pulling them over the edge of the scissors.

c) Insert the wired curling ribbons in the glass.

Great job! Congratulations on your beautiful Easter Candy Sundae!

You can make a sundae with any candy/chocolate pieces you (or your recipient) like. It’s a great gift for any occasion. You can wrap the candy sundae in clear cellophane tying it with curling ribbon. You can also attach a hand-made or ready-made bow to the front top of the cellophane wrap.

2 Easy Chocolate Candy Recipes

Easy Chocolate Dippers – Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans, Raisins, or Nuts

I love these simple dippers almost as much as I love truffles. Never underestimate the power of ‘easy’!

1 cup coffee beans (I like using espresso beans), raisins and/or nuts

1 1/2 cup chocolate chunks, bits or pieces

3 tbsp cocoa powder (optional)

Melt chocolate in a bowl or pan over another pan with boiling water in it.

Place 1/3 of the coffee beans, fruit or nuts in the melted chocolate. Stir around until coated. Remove your coated items from the chocolate with a fork and place on wax paper. Do not allow them to touch each other. Continue coating your items until all are finished.

If desired, roll your chocolate covered confections in cocoa powder or powdered sugar before they harden completely.

Let your chocolate covered items harden overnight. If you are in a hurry, put them in the freezer for half an hour. I highly recommend hardening at room temperature.

Easy Creamy Chocolate Caramel Candy

For us real chocolate lovers, dip the completely hardened caramels in melted chocolate and set on buttered cookie sheets or platters to harden again. Variations: sprinkle on crushed peppermint candies or ground pecans or other nuts.

Ingredients:

1cup of sugar

1 cup of molasses

1 cup of thick cream

1 generous Tablespoon of butter

4 ounces premium dark chocolate

extra chocolate for dipping (optional)

Mix together in a cast iron frying pan sugar, molasses, cream, butter, and dark chocolate. Place on the stove and stir until the mixture boils.

Cook at a continuous boil, stirring frequently, until a few drops of it will harden if dropped into ice-water; then pour into well-buttered pans, having the mixture about three-fourths of an inch deep. When nearly cold, mark into squares.

It will take less than half an hour to cook if cooked in an iron frying pan, at least twice as long if cooked in any other kind of pan. The caramels must be placed in the refrigerator or freezer to harden.

Chocolate Candy Gift Basket – A Tasty and Easy Gift Guide

by Kenny, in: Candy Articles

One of the nicest gifts you can give, or receive, is a chocolate candy gift basket. Whether you’re attempting to find a gift for a wedding, searching for the perfect anniversary present, or if you can not seem to find the perfect item to take along to the office Christmas party, you are sure to find a gift basket that has the desserts that everyone would want.

Personalize For That Special Effect

The basket can be individualized to contain all a person’s favorite types of treats, and there are so many low-cost options. Here are some of the things you will wish to include in whatever chocolate candy gift basket you might be giving away.

Because you you have the ability to customize the basket in in the majority of cases, you should include the recipient’s favorite items, such as colors, objects, as well as candy flavors will all play an important part in your decision.

If the person’s who is getting the gift favorite color is purple, you can request that the basket be lined in purple fabric, or that the box that the chocolates come in have purple trim. You also can include other items inside the basket, such as red grapes or wine to preserve the ‘purple’ theme.

If you are aware that your loved one likes dark chocolate, try to include as many varieties of this kind of chocolate as you possibly can, and make sure that the presentation is elegant and classy. You can also include other food items that might be layered with dark chocolate, such as strawberries or popcorn, as well as chocolate treats that are decorated with sweet toppings such as caramel or coconut.

Complimentary Items

A chocolate candy gift basket can also have items that go well with chocolate, such as champagne or cheese. There are several companies that will pair the best types of cheese, wine or champagne up with your loved one’s favorite chocolates, and larger gift baskets will make a terrific spread at a party or small gathering. You can check out sites on the internet to find out which pairings you need to pay particular attention to, and which basket presentations would be suitable for the person you are giving the gift to.

While you can order your chocolate candy gift basket over the internet, you can visit places such as Godiva to tailor-make your basket, and to get a taste of all the exceptional chocolates that will be included within your basket.

You can even check out discount department stores like Wal-Mart and Target for unique gift basket ideas, in addition to some candy making tips that you an use to create your own gift basket. All you’ll need is a basket at the size you want, gift paper, ribbons, and all the chocolate you want.

Wholesale Candy Distributors

by Kenny, in: Candy Articles

For people who sell candy in their businesses or through vending machines, it is very important to find a reliable supplier. This is because given the popularity of candy among consumers; supermarkets, groceries and vending machines that offer them, sellers need to have a constant supply of these products. In addition to being able to find a reliable supplier, another important consideration is finding a supplier that offers the best prices for his products, as this can ensure that retailers can also sell the candy at a good price. However, finding a supplier that fits this profile can be challenging as there are a large number of them to choose from, which can make the process of canvassing for a supplier not only time-consuming but exhausting as well.

Research

One of the best ways to canvass is to do a research on the Internet for wholesale companies that sell candy. This is because searching the Internet not only exposes you to a wide array of choices with regard to different types of candy but it can also allow you to compare a number of companies right at the comfort of your home. In addition to this, the ease by which transactions are made online also provides a convenient way to purchase candy.

Things to consider

One of the first things to consider when you canvass for wholesalers is the price of their products, however, given the fierce competition online, you can expect that the prices of different candy products would be very competitive. Another important consideration is on how these companies would ship the products to you, as much as possible, you should get a company that has its own delivery system, but a company that uses reliable delivery services such as UPS and FedEx would also be a good option. Other considerations include the mode of payment for the goods, making sure that you receive the most “fresh” products, and the reliability of the company in being able to supply their products and other services.

Selling a popular product such as candy requires that you get a reliable supplier that not only provides you with adequate supply of candy but also the best prices as well. One of the best sources for such suppliers is the Internet, as canvassing for wholesale companies online can is very convenient because it allows you to have access to large number of companies who offer some of the best deals on candy in the market.
